Ndumisa Mathoho vs Ross Giroud

Boxing Daily Report from the Quick Tan Promotions promoted show at Gold Reef Entertainment Centre, Johannesburg,  taking place on 24/01/2025:

The venue is completely packed out with the fans turning out in force to watch the fights on offer tonight.  
Next up we have one of the supporting contests of this show.  

Looking to impress the boxing fans in attendance, the two fighters competing in this 10 round matchup are Ndumisa Mathoho (7 - 0) who hails from Durban, South Africa and Ross Giroud(2 - 3 - 1) from Yaoundé, Cameroon.  Both Mathoho and Giroud weighed in at 112 pounds.  
The referee tonight is Rob Bakwamba, and the three ringside judges are John Masina, Tlou Nqakula and Johnny Kamalebo.  

Round 1: 

Mathoho drives a stinging right hook into his opponents body.  
Mathoho lands a jab.  
Mathoho advances into close range and lands a right hook followed by a left uppercut to his opponents head.  
Giroud steps away from his opponent.  Mathoho feints a jab, fooling Giroud into launching a right uppercut counter.  Mathoho springs the trap, countering with  a left hook.  
Mathoho steps inside and lands a left hook, right hook and a left uppercut to his opponents head.  
Mathoho lands a left hook followed by a right hook to his opponents head.  He follows up the attack and lands a double right hook to his opponents head.  
Mathoho pivots to the right of his opponent and lands with a stinging jab.  
Mathoho is on target with a left hook.  
Mathoho steps inside and throws a left hook, but the shot lands on his opponents guard.  Mathoho clinches his opponent.  Mathoho is using his forearm in the clinch.  The referee breaks the clinch and warns Mathoho to stop fouling.  
Giroud is looking to keep the action on the outside.  Mathoho tries to land an overhand right, but his opponent sidesteps and counters with a cross.  
Mathoho closes the distance.  Mathoho sidesteps to the right of his opponent and lands a right hook followed by a left uppercut to his opponents head.  
Mathoho pivots to the side of his opponent.  Giroud attempts to land a right hook, but Mathoho slips the shot and counters with a left uppercut.  
Mathoho lands a stinging right hook.  
Mathoho pivots from in front of his opponent and is on target with a sharp right hook.  
Mathoho manouvers his opponent into a corner.  Mathoho lands a right hook to the head, a left hook to the body and a left hook to the head.  
Mathoho pivots to the right of his opponent.  Giroud tries to land a left hook, but his opponent blocks the shot and counters with a left hook.  
Mathoho hits home with a left hook.  
At the end of Round 1, lets listen in on the corners...Giroud's trainer is telling his fighter he needs to be more active or he's going to get outworked.  Giroud's trainer is passing on some tactical advice.
