Kirk Mortensen vs Elliot Nethery

Boxing Daily Report from the AI Ireland-Leinster promoted show at Club M, Dublin,  taking place on 27/01/2025:

The venue is completely packed out with the fans turning out in force to watch the fights on offer tonight.  
Next up we have one of the supporting contests of this show.  

Looking to impress the boxing fans in attendance and those watching live on Eurosport Ireland, the two fighters competing in this 10 round matchup are Kirk Mortensen (4 - 0) who hails from Oslo, Norway and Elliot Nethery(4 - 10 - 4) from Limerick, Ireland.  Mortensen weighed in at 135 pounds, while Nethery weighed in at 134 pounds and 9 ounces.  
The referee tonight is Shane MacNevin, and the three ringside judges are Michael Corcoran, Lee Taggart and Killian Bourne.  

Round 1: 

Mortensen lands a stiff jab.  
Nethery connects with a left hook.  
Mortensen digs in a solid left hook to Nethery's body.  
Mortensen sidesteps to the left of his opponent and hits home with a left uppercut.  
Mortensen digs in a firm left uppercut to his opponents body.  
Nethery is looking to keep the action on the outside and lands an overhand right.  
Mortensen gets on the inside and drives a left uppercut into his opponents body.  
Mortensen sidesteps to the right of his opponent and hits home with a left hook.  
Nethery steps to the outside.  Mortensen sidesteps to the left of his opponent and connects with a cross.  
Mortensen lands a jab to the head followed by two left hook's to the body.  
Mortensen steps inside and lands a right hook followed by a left hook to his opponents body.  
Mortensen whips in a spiteful left hook to Nethery's liver.  IT LOOKS LIKE NETHERY WAS HURT BY THAT SHOT!  Nethery recovers before his opponent can take advantage. 
Nethery feints a cross, and then finds the target with a jab.  
Mortensen steps inside and drives a right hook into Nethery's ribs.  
Mortensen advances into close range and lands a left hook to the head followed by a left uppercut to the body.  
Mortensen lands a right hook followed by a left hook to his opponents body, AND DROPS NETHERY TO THE CANVAS!  He is on his feet as the count reaches 5.  
Some sustained pressure from Mortensen could be enough to finish Nethery!  Mortensen lands a cross to the head, a left uppercut to the body and a left hook to the body, DROPPING NETHERY TO THE CANVAS!  He beats the count, getting up at 5.  It looks like Nethery has now recovered from that earlier bodyshot.  
Nethery tries to step out of his opponents range and throws a jab, but his opponent parries the shot and counters with a left uppercut.  
Mortensen advances into close range and walks Nethery down, trapping him on the ropes.  Mortensen slams a nasty left hook into Nethery's body.  IT LOOKS LIKE NETHERY WAS HURT BY THAT SHOT!  Mortensen attempts to land a right hook, but Nethery blocks the shot and counters with a right hook.  Nethery almost instantly recovers. 
At the end of Round 1, lets listen in on the corners...Nethery's trainer is advising how he could stop so many clean shots getting through.

Mortensen gets on the inside and lands a left uppercut to the body, a right uppercut to the head and a right hook to the body.  
Mortensen hits home with a right hook.  
Mortensen lands a left hook followed by a right hook to his opponents body, AND DROPS NETHERY TO THE CANVAS!  He is back up on his feet at 4.  Nethery recovers before his opponent can take advantage.

Mortensen gets on the inside and throws a right hook, but his opponent blocks the shot and counters with a cross.  
Mortensen manouvers Nethery onto the ropes.  Mortensen lands a right uppercut to the head followed by a left uppercut to the body.  
Mortensen lands two left hooks to his opponents ribs, AND NETHERY IS DOWN!  He beats the count, getting up at 5.  Nethery almost instantly recovers. 
Mortensen manouvers his opponent into the blue corner.  Mortensen digs in a left hook to his opponents ribs.  
At the end of Round 2, lets listen in on the corners...Nethery's trainer is telling his fighter he needs to be more active or he's going to get outworked.  Nethery's trainer is passing on some tactical advice.

Mortensen lands a left uppercut followed by a left hook to his opponents body, AND STUNS HIS OPPONENT!  
Mortensen lands a left hook followed by a right uppercut to his opponents body.  
Mortensen is looking to put the pressure on now...he knows a few clean shots could mean an early night.  Mortensen lands two left uppercuts to the body, and one to the head.  He follows up the attack and lands a right hook, left uppercut and a right hook to his opponents body, AND DROPS NETHERY!  He is back up on his feet at 6.  
Nethery steps away from his opponent.  Mortensen lands a left uppercut, right uppercut and a left hook to his opponents body, KNOCKING NETHERY DOWN!  The ref does not give Nethery the chance to beat the count...The fight has been stopped!  The winner by TKO is Mortensen!
