Brett Riddick vs Michael Shanklin

Boxing Daily Report from the T5 Promotions promoted show at T5 Gym, North Shore,  taking place on 21/02/2025:

The venue is completely packed out with the fans turning out in force to watch the fights on offer tonight.  
Next up we have one of the supporting contests of this show.  

Looking to impress the boxing fans in attendance, the two fighters competing in this 12 round matchup are Brett Riddick (10(2) - 0) who hails from Auckland, New Zealand and Michael Shanklin(7 - 7 - 3) from Christchurch, New Zealand.  Both Riddick and Shanklin weighed in at 200 pounds.  
The referee tonight is Robert Smillie, and the three ringside judges are Dale Mostyn, Corey Hopper and Antwan Vaughan.  

Round 1: 

Shanklin advances into close range.  Riddick drives a right hook into his opponents ribcage.  Riddick clinches his opponent.  As they grapple, Riddick pushes his forearm into Shanklin's face.  The referee warns Riddick and breaks the clinch.

The two boxers are fighting in-close, but their heads clash!  The ref acknowledges the accidental headclash but allows the action to continue.    That accidental headbutt has resulted in some damage to Riddick.  That has caused slight swelling  around the left eye.

Riddick steps away from his opponent.  Riddick senses a stoppage victory - he just needs the right shot.  Riddick lands two consecutive straights to his opponents head.  He follows up the attack and lands a left hook to the body, a cross to the head and a right uppercut to the body, AND DROPS SHANKLIN TO THE CANVAS!  The count reaches 10, but Shanklin is unable to get up!  The winner by KO is Riddick!
