Nao Ige vs Hiro Baba

Boxing Daily Report from the Glove Shack promoted show at Ota-City General Gymnasium, Tokyo,  taking place on 22/03/2025:

There are plenty of empty seats out here tonight, with the show nowhere near close to selling out.  
Next up we have one of the supporting contests of this show.  This is a semi final eliminator for the Japan-Tokyo Bantamweight title.  

Looking to impress the boxing fans in attendance, the two fighters competing in this 10 round matchup are Nao Ige (6 - 7 - 4) who hails from Tokyo, Japan and Hiro Baba(10 - 8 - 1) from Tokyo, Japan.  Ige weighed in at 117 pounds And 9 ounces, while Baba weighed in at 118 pounds.  
The referee tonight is Hikaru Nakamura, and the three ringside judges are Daichi Noda, Isamu Okimoto and Isamu Nonaka.  

Round 1: 

Ige lands a left hook.  
Ige drives a right hook into Baba's body.  
Ige switches the action to the outside and finds the target with a jab.  
Ige lands a jab.  
Baba sidesteps to the left of his opponent.  Ige attempts to land a left hook, but Baba slips the shot and counters with a cross.  
Ige switches the action to the outside and throws a jab, but his opponent slips the shot and counters with a right uppercut.  
Baba sidesteps to the right of his opponent.  Ige hits home with an overhand right.  
Ige is on target with a jab.  
Baba steps inside and lands a right hook.  
Ige quickly sidesteps from in front of his opponent andBaba wants to work on the inside, but accidentally clashes heads with his opponent!  The ref acknowledges the accidental headclash but allows the action to continue.    That accidental headbutt has resulted in some damage to Ige.  That has caused minor swelling  around the left eye.
