Merrill Beatrice vs Michael Darby

Boxing Daily Report from the Montreal's Top Gym promoted show at Montreal's Gym, Montreal,  taking place on 29/03/2025:

The venue is mostly sold out with the fans eager to turn out for tonights fights.  
Next up is the main event of the show.  

Looking to impress the boxing fans in attendance, the two fighters competing in this 8 round matchup are Merrill Beatrice (6 - 0) who hails from Saskatoon, Canada and Michael Darby(6 - 7(2) - 3) from Toronto, Canada.  Beatrice weighed in at 135 pounds, while Darby weighed in at 134 pounds.  
The referee tonight is Jasper Kopa, and the three ringside judges are Paris Clarin, Carvell Brame and Olier Paradis.  

Round 1: 

Beatrice steps inside and hits home with a left uppercut.

Beatrice throws a right uppercut, but his opponent avoids the punch.  Beatrice holds on to his opponent.  Beatrice tries to make the space to throw a hook, but hits Darby behind the head. The referee breaks the clinch and warns Beatrice to stop fouling.

Beatrice gets on the inside and is on target with a firm left uppercut.  
Beatrice closes the distance and manouvers Darby into the corner.  Beatrice lands a right hook to the body, and then to the head.

Darby manages to force Beatrice onto the ropes.  Beatrice drives a firm left hook into Darby's body.  
Beatrice advances into close range.  Beatrice quickly sidesteps from in front of his opponent and digs in a right uppercut to Darby's ribs.  
Beatrice advances into close range and tries to land a left hook, but Darby blocks the shot and counters with a right hook.
