Oscar Hunua vs Chris Travis

Boxing Daily Report from the Gold Coast Promotions promoted show at Gold Coast Convention and Exhibition Centre, Gold Coast,  taking place on 17/05/2025:

The venue is completely packed out with the fans turning out in force to watch the fights on offer tonight.  
Next up is the main event of the show.  On the line tonight are the IRBF Super Welterweight and WRBO Super Welterweight titles.  

Looking to impress the boxing fans in attendance and those watching live on SBS1, the two fighters competing in this 12 round matchup are Oscar Toa Hunua (20(16) - 0) who hails from North Shore, New Zealand and Chris Travis(16(6) - 5(2)) from Joliet, USA.  Both Hunua and Travis weighed in at 154 pounds.  
The referee tonight is Ian Rabb, and the three ringside judges are John Taggart, Francesco Ghiglia and Sammy Feamster.  

Round 1: 

Hunua advances into close range.  Travis lands a double left hook to his opponents head.

Hunua attempts to land a left hook, but Travis slips the shot and counters with a right uppercut.

Travis pivots to the left of his opponent.  Travis drives a left hook into Hunua's ribs.  Travis throws a left hook, but his opponent sidesteps and counters with a sharp right hook to his opponents body.  
Travis throws a jab, but his opponent sidesteps and counters with a solid cross.  
Hunua gets on the inside.  Travis hits home with a right uppercut.  
Travis wants to work on the inside, but accidentally clashes heads with his opponent!  The ref does not appear to have noticed the clash as Hunua dabs at his face checking for damage.  
Travis finds the target with a jab.  Travis tries to land a jab, but his opponent sidesteps and counters with a stinging cross.  
Travis advances into close range and hits home with a left hook.  Travis attempts to land a left hook, but Hunua sidesteps and counters with a left uppercut.  
Hunua tries to land a left hook, but his opponent dodges the shot and counters with a left hook.  
Hunua connects with a firm right uppercut.  
Hunua gets on the inside.  Travis lands a right hook to the head followed by a left uppercut to the body.  
Travis gets on the inside.  Travis pivots to the left of his opponent.  Hunua lands a left hook to the head followed by a right hook to the body.  
Travis drives a left hook into his opponents ribs.  
Travis sidesteps to the right of his opponent and lands a left hook to the head, a right uppercut to the head and a right hook to the body.  
Travis is on target with a right uppercut to Hunua's body.  
Travis steps inside and connects with a left uppercut.  Travis throws a right hook, but his opponent blocks the shot and counters with a solid right hook.  
Hunua hits home with a solid left hook.  
Hunua attempts to land a right hook, but Travis slips the shot and counters with a left uppercut to Hunua's liver.  
Travis hits home with a left hook.  Travis throws a left uppercut, but his opponent blocks the shot and counters with a stinging left uppercut.

Travis advances into close range.  Hunua lands two left hooks to his opponents ribs.  He then lands a right hook followed by a right uppercut to his opponents head. Travis closes the distance.  Hunua knows Travis is hurt...he is putting the pressure on now, looking for the stoppage.  Hunua lands three consecutive right hooks to his opponents ribs.  He follows up the attack and lands three consecutive left uppercuts to his opponents body, AND TRAVIS IS DOWN!  He manages to get up at 8.  
Hunua lands three consecutive left uppercuts to his opponents body.  He continues the combination and lands a right uppercut, left uppercut and a left hook to his opponents body.  
Hunua lands a right uppercut followed by a left hook to his opponents body.  He follows up the attack and lands a left hook, right uppercut and a left uppercut to his opponents body, AND DROPS TRAVIS TO THE CANVAS!  The ref immediately waves off the fight...he's seen enough!  The fight has been stopped!  The winner by TKO is Hunua!
