David Kelley vs David Pringle

Boxing Daily Report from the Gold Coast Promotions promoted show at Gold Coast Convention and Exhibition Centre, Gold Coast,  taking place on 17/05/2025:

The venue is completely packed out with the fans turning out in force to watch the fights on offer tonight.  
Next up we have one of the supporting contests of this show.  

Looking to impress the boxing fans in attendance and those watching live on SBS1, the two fighters competing in this 10 round matchup are David Kelley (6 - 0 - 1) who hails from Christchurch, New Zealand and David Pringle(10 - 10 - 2) from Melbourne, Australia.  Both Kelley and Pringle weighed in at 160 pounds.  
The referee tonight is John Taggart, and the three ringside judges are Sammy Feamster, Francesco Ghiglia and Ian Rabb.  

Round 1: 

Pringle steps away from his opponent.  Kelley feints a left, and then lands a cross followed by a overhand left to his opponents head.  
Pringle is looking to keep his distance.  Kelley finds the target with a hard jab.  
Kelley hits home with a right uppercut.  
Kelley is looking to close the distance.  Kelley sidesteps to the right of his opponent.  Pringle tries to land a left hook, but Kelley slips the shot and counters with a left uppercut.

Kelley closes the distance and lands two right hooks followed by a left hook to his opponents head.  
Kelley sidesteps to the right of his opponent.  Pringle lands a cross.  
Kelley steps inside.  Kelley pivots to the left of his opponent and lands a right uppercut to the body, a right uppercut to the head and a right hook to the head.  
Kelley is on target with a cross.  
Kelley pivots to the right of his opponent and is on target with a right hook.  Pringle wants to work on the inside, but accidentally clashes heads with his opponent!  The ref does not appear to have noticed the clash as Kelley dabs at his face checking for damage.  
Kelley manages to force Pringle onto the ropes.  Kelley pivots to the right of his opponent and lands a left uppercut to the body, and then to the head.  He follows up the attack and lands a left hook followed by a right hook to his opponents head.

Kelley quickly sidesteps from in front of his opponent and lands a straight 1 - 2.

At the end of Round 1, lets listen in on the corners...Pringle's trainer is telling his fighter he needs to be more active or he's going to get outworked.  Pringle's trainer is passing on some tactical advice.  Pringle's trainer is advising how he could improve his defence.
