Cruz Villescas vs Rex Pennie

Boxing Daily Report from the RJM Boxing promoted show at RJM Gym, Cambridge,  taking place on 07/04/2025:

There are plenty of empty seats out here tonight, with the show nowhere near close to selling out.  
Next up is the main event of the show.  

Looking to impress the boxing fans in attendance, the two fighters competing in this 4 round matchup are Cruz Villescas (0 - 0) who hails from Capiata, Paraguay and Rex Pennie(0 - 2) from Nottingham, UK.  Both Villescas and Pennie weighed in at 140 pounds.  
The referee tonight is Gavin McAffee, and the three ringside judges are Paul McCowen, Ewan Musto and Oscar Madden.  

Round 1: 

Villescas gets on the inside.  Villescas hits home with a left uppercut.  
Villescas quickly sidesteps from in front of his opponent.  Pennie throws a cross, but his opponent sidesteps and counters with a cross.  
Villescas is looking to close the distance.  Villescas sidesteps to the left of his opponent.  Villescas lands a double left hook to his opponents head.  Villescas tries to land a left uppercut, but his opponent slips the shot and counters with a left hook.

Villescas forces Pennie to retreat into a neutral corner.  Villescas lands a left hook followed by a right hook to his opponents body.

Villescas closes the distance.  Pennie pivots to the left of his opponent.  Villescas lands a right hook, left hook and a left uppercut to his opponents head.  
Pennie is looking to keep the action on the outside.  Villescas finds the target with a jab.  
Villescas tries to step out of his opponents range and is on target with a cross.  
At the end of Round 1, lets listen in on the corners...Pennie's trainer is advising how he could be more accurate.  Pennie's trainer is telling his fighter he is being outworked and needs to throw more.  Pennie's trainer is advising how he could stop so many clean shots getting through.
