John Ahuriri vs Michael Mordecai

Boxing Daily Report from the Slick Rick Promotions promoted show at Papatoetoe Cosmopolitan Club, Auckland,  taking place on 28/04/2025:

Clearly Slick Rick Promotions have made a mistake booking this venue with less than half the tickets sold, including those handed out as prizes by Boxing Daily.  
Next up is the main event of the show.  

Looking to impress the boxing fans in attendance, the two fighters competing in this 6 round matchup are John Ahuriri (0 - 0) who hails from Auckland, New Zealand and Michael Mordecai(1 - 12 - 3) from Auckland, New Zealand.  Both Ahuriri and Mordecai weighed in at 200 pounds.  
The referee tonight is Ian Skene, and the three ringside judges are Kenzie Anderson, Waraki Kawau and Jake Smith.  

Round 1: 

Ahuriri lands a cross.  
Mordecai throws a right uppercut, but Ahuriri clinches his opponent.  Ahuriri is using his forearm in the clinch.  The referee warns Ahuriri and breaks the clinch.

Ahuriri uses his free hand to throw a hook, but it hits Mordecai behind the head. The ref breaks the clinch and signals for the action to continue.

Ahuriri switches the action to the outside and is on target with an overhand left.

Ahuriri pivots to the side of his opponent and lands a left uppercut to the head followed by a right hook to the body.

Mordecai steps inside.  Ahuriri leans back on the ropes...he waves his opponent in!  Mordecai attempts to land a left hook, but Ahuriri dodges the shot and counters with a right uppercut.
