Jacob Liston vs Ian Gorman

Boxing Daily Report from the Elite Prizefighters promoted show at Middleton Arena, Manchester,  taking place on 15/05/2025:

There are plenty of empty seats out here tonight, with the show nowhere near close to selling out.  
Next up we have one of the supporting contests of this show.  

Looking to impress the boxing fans in attendance, the two fighters competing in this 10 round matchup are Jacob Liston (9(1) - 0) who hails from Bristol, UK and Ian Gorman(6 - 7 - 2) from Belfast, UK.  Liston weighed in at 228 pounds And 3 ounces, while Gorman weighed in at 250 pounds And 2 ounces.  
The referee tonight is Hayden Ritchey, and the three ringside judges are Robert Goff, Paul Elliot and Wayne Latham.  

Round 1: 

Liston gets on the inside and lands a double right hook to his opponents head.  Liston holds on to his opponent.  Liston is leaning on his opponent in the clinch. As they grapple, Liston pushes his forearm into Gorman's face.  The referee separates the two fighters and warns Liston.  
Liston attempts to land a right hook, but Gorman dodges the shot and counters with a left uppercut.  
Liston is on target with a solid right uppercut to his opponents body.  
Liston pivots from in front of his opponent and is on target with a right hook to his opponents ribs.  
Liston lands two right hooks to his opponents ribs.  He then lands a right hook to the body followed by a left hook to the head.  Liston clinches his opponent.  Liston hits his opponent with a kidney shot within the clinch. The ref separates the two fighters.  
Liston digs in a left hook to his opponents ribs.  
Liston pivots to the right of his opponent and is on target with a sharp left hook.  
Liston lands a jab, cross and a jab to his opponents head.  
Liston is looking to close the distance and lands a right hook to the body followed by a right uppercut to the head.  
As Gorman tries to work on the inside, the fighters heads come together!  The ref does not appear to have noticed the clash as Liston dabs at his face checking for damage.  
Liston feints a cross, fooling Gorman into launching a cross counter.  Liston springs the trap, countering with  a left uppercut.  
Liston finds the target with a hard jab.  
Gorman pivots to the side of his opponent.  Gorman throws a left hook, but his opponent blocks the shot and counters with a right hook.  
Liston gets on the inside.  Liston pivots to the right of his opponent.  Liston hits home with a stinging right hook.  Liston ties up his opponent.  Liston is leaning on his opponent in the clinch. The ref separates the two fighters.  
Gorman is looking to close the distance.  Liston lands a left hook to the body, and then to the head.  As Liston tries to work on the inside, the fighters heads come together!  The ref acknowledges the accidental headclash but allows the action to continue.    It looks like the clash of heads has caused some damage to Gorman.  That has caused slight swelling  around the right eye.  
Liston walks Gorman down, trapping him in the corner.  Liston lands a left hook to the body, and then to the head.  He continues the combination and lands a double left hook to his opponents head.  
Liston lands a left uppercut to the head followed by a right hook to the body.  
Liston switches the action to the outside and lands a jab.  
Liston closes the distance and lands two right hooks followed by a left hook to his opponents head.  
Liston lands a right hook to the body followed by a left hook to the head.  
Liston sidesteps to the left of his opponent and lands a left uppercut to the head followed by a right hook to the body.  
Liston tries to keep the action at long range and lands two consecutive straights to his opponents head.  Liston attempts to land an overhand left, but Gorman sidesteps and counters with a right hook.  
Liston gets on the inside.  Liston pivots to the left of his opponent and is on target with a solid right hook to Gorman's body.  
Liston pivots from in front of his opponent.  Gorman throws a left hook, but Liston clinches his opponent.  Liston is leaning on his opponent in the clinch. The ref breaks Liston's hold and signals for the fight to continue.  
Liston steps inside and lands a left hook to the head, a right hook to the head and a left hook to the body.  
At the end of Round 1, lets listen in on the corners...Gorman's trainer is telling his fighter he is being outworked and needs to throw more.
