Boxing Daily Report from the Quick Tan Promotions promoted show at Ellis Park Arena, Johannesburg,  taking place on 06/06/2025:

There are plenty of empty seats out here tonight, with the show nowhere near close to selling out.  
Next up we have one of the supporting contests of this show.  On the line tonight is the South Africa Flyweight title.  

Looking to impress the boxing fans in attendance and those watching live on SABC1, the two fighters competing in this 12 round matchup are John Lengela (16(3) - 1 - 1) who hails from Cape Town, South Africa and Lucas Verwoerd(12 - 4 - 1) from Khayelitsha, South Africa.  Both Lengela and Verwoerd weighed in at 112 pounds.  
The referee tonight is Mzikayise Tlolane, and the three ringside judges are Uba Akamenya, Luvolwethu Motupa and Jackson Mnyamane.  

Round 1: 

Lengela lands a jab.  
Lengela is on target with a left hook.  Lengela clinches his opponent.  Lengela is using his forearm in the clinch.  The referee separates the two fighters and warns Lengela.

Lengela feints a left, and then is on target with a potent left hook to his opponents liver.  IT LOOKS LIKE VERWOERD WAS HURT BY THAT SHOT!  Lengela attempts to land a jab, but Verwoerd slips the shot and counters with a cross.  
Lengela steps inside.  Lengela stalks his opponent...he just needs the right shot to put his opponent away!  Lengela whips in a hurtful right hook to Verwoerd's ribs.  VERWOERD IS DOWN!  He is on his feet as the count reaches 4.  
Lengela lands a right hook to the body, a left uppercut to the body and a cross to the head.  He continues the combination and lands a cross to the head, a right hook to the body and a right uppercut to the head.  Verwoerd now seems to have recovered from the bodyshot.  
Lengela steps inside and hits home with a right hook.  
Lengela steps inside and slams a nasty left hook into Verwoerd's body.  VERWOERD IS HURT!  
Some sustained pressure from Lengela could be enough to finish Verwoerd!  Lengela lands two left uppercuts to the body, and one to the head, AND SENDS VERWOERD TO THE CANVAS!  He is unable to get up before the count reaches 10!  The winner by KO is Lengela!
