Hiroki Ota vs Akira Yokota

Boxing Daily Report from the Namadembwe Promotions promoted show at Kazuhiko Okabe Gym, Tokorozawa,  taking place on 23/05/2025:

There are plenty of empty seats out here tonight, with the show nowhere near close to selling out.  
Next up is the main event of the show.  This is a semi final eliminator for the Japan-Saitama Heavyweight title.  

Looking to impress the boxing fans in attendance, the two fighters competing in this 10 round matchup are Hiroki Ota (6 - 8 - 1) who hails from Koshigaya, Japan and Akira Yokota(4 - 2) from Soka, Japan.  Ota weighed in at 227 pounds And 6 ounces, while Yokota weighed in at 235 pounds And 10 ounces.  
The referee tonight is Shinji Kinoshita, and the three ringside judges are Michi Amano, Ryuu Kamiya and Mitsuru Kamei.  

Round 1: 

Yokota lands a right hook to the body followed by a right uppercut to the head.  
Yokota hits home with a stinging jab.  
Yokota steps inside.  Ota attempts to land a left uppercut, but Yokota sidesteps and counters with a cross.  
Yokota closes the distance and is on target with a right uppercut to Ota's body.

Yokota lands a left uppercut to the body followed by a right uppercut to the head.  As the two fighters work on the inside, their heads come together!  The ref does not appear to have noticed the clash as Yokota dabs at his face checking for damage.

Yokota pivots to the right of his opponent and finds the target with a jab.  
Ota is looking to keep his distance and is on target with a cross.  
Yokota is looking to close the distance and manouvers his opponent onto the ropes.  As the two fighters work on the inside, their heads come together!  The ref does not appear to have noticed the clash as Yokota dabs at his face checking for damage.  
Yokota attempts to land a right uppercut, but Ota blocks the shot and counters with a right hook.  
At the end of Round 1, lets listen in on the corners...Ota's trainer is advising how he could improve the accuracy of his work.  Ota's trainer is passing on some tactical advice.  Ota's trainer is telling his fighter to tighten his defence.
