Charles Mears vs Nick Cody

Boxing Daily Report from the Elite Prizefighters promoted show at Elite Gym, Liverpool,  taking place on 25/05/2025:

There are plenty of empty seats out here tonight, with the show nowhere near close to selling out.  
Next up is the main event of the show.  

Looking to impress the boxing fans in attendance, the two fighters competing in this 6 round matchup are Charles No Tears Mears (8 - 0) who hails from Coventry, UK and Nick Cody(0 - 1 - 2) from London, UK.  Mears weighed in at 160 pounds, while Cody weighed in at 159 pounds and 8 ounces.  
The referee tonight is Angus Heriot, and the three ringside judges are Irfan Assaf, Matthew McReynolds and Shaun Halliburton.  

Round 1: 

Mears lands a left hook.  Mears ties up his opponent.  As they grapple, Mears pushes his forearm into Cody's face.  The referee breaks the clinch and warns Mears to stop fouling.

Mears sidesteps to the right of his opponent.  Cody throws a left hook, but Mears clinches his opponent.  Mears hits his opponent with a kidney shot within the clinch. The referee warns Mears and breaks the clinch.

Mears manouvers his opponent onto the ropes.  Mears hits home with a left hook.  
Mears digs in a left hook to his opponents body.  Mears ties up his opponent.  Mears uses his free hand to throw a body hook, but it lands on Cody's kidney. The ref halts the action and breaks the clinch.  He lectures Mears about fouling.  
At the end of Round 1, lets listen in on the corners...Cody's trainer is advising how he could be more accurate.

Mears attempts to land a cross, but Cody slips the shot and counters with a left hook.

Mears sidesteps to the right of his opponent and is on target with a right hook.
