Darryl Carneal vs James Templeton

Boxing Daily Report from the Gold Coast Promotions promoted show at Gold Coast Convention and Exhibition Centre, Gold Coast,  taking place on 14/06/2025:

The venue is mostly sold out with the fans eager to turn out for tonights fights.  
Next up we have one of the supporting contests of this show.  This is a semi final eliminator for the Australia Bantamweight title.  

Looking to impress the boxing fans in attendance, the two fighters competing in this 12 round matchup are Darryl Carneal (11 - 6) who hails from Adelaide, Australia and James Templeton(6 - 4 - 3) from Melbourne, Australia.  Both Carneal and Templeton weighed in at 118 pounds.  
The referee tonight is Neil McAllaster, and the three ringside judges are Mark Elgin, Giorgio Lombardo and Ewan Duffy.  

Round 1: 

Carneal is looking to close the distance and attempts to land a left hook, but Templeton slips the shot and counters with a left uppercut.  
Carneal forces Templeton to retreat into a neutral corner.  Carneal is on target with a left hook to his opponents body.  Carneal ties up his opponent.  As they grapple, Carneal pushes his forearm into Templeton's face.  The ref calls break and the two fighters separate.

Carneal throws a right hook, but is unable to find the target.  Carneal ties up his opponent.  Templeton uses his free hand to throw a body hook, but it lands on Carneal's kidney. The ref halts the action and breaks the clinch.  He lectures Templeton about fouling.

Carneal sidesteps to the left of his opponent and lands a left hook to the body, and then to the head.  
Carneal advances into close range and digs in a left hook to Templeton's body.

Templeton wants to work on the inside, but accidentally clashes heads with his opponent!  The ref acknowledges the accidental headclash but allows the action to continue.  Carneal has taken some damage there.  That has caused slight damage to the nose.  
Carneal hits home with a left hook.  Carneal ties up his opponent.  Carneal leans on his opponent trying to wear him down. The ref separates the two fighters.
