Martyn Flanagan vs Asko Kanniainen

Boxing Daily Report from the Big Bang Promotions promoted show at Toolo Sports Hall, Helsinki,  taking place on 21/06/2025:

The venue is completely packed out with the fans turning out in force to watch the fights on offer tonight.  
Next up we have one of the supporting contests of this show.  

Looking to impress the boxing fans in attendance and those watching live on Yle TV2, the two fighters competing in this 10 round matchup are Martyn Flanagan (13(2) - 1) who hails from Newcastle, UK and Asko Kanniainen(5 - 11 - 3) from Tampere, Finland.  Flanagan weighed in at 122 pounds, while Kanniainen weighed in at 121 pounds and 14 ounces.  
The referee tonight is Jorma Puikkonen, and the three ringside judges are Manu Koivurinnen, Erkki Hattonen and Jori Puttonen.  

Round 1: 

Flanagan throws a left hook, but the shot lands on his opponents guard.  Flanagan holds on to his opponent.  As they grapple, Flanagan pushes his forearm into Kanniainen's face.  The ref breaks Flanagan's hold and signals for the fight to continue.

Flanagan advances into close range and is on target with a sharp left hook to Kanniainen's liver.  
Flanagan hits home with a cross.  Flanagan tries to land a jab, but Kanniainen blocks the shot and counters with a right hook to Flanagan's body.  
Flanagan steps inside and drives a left hook into his opponents liver.  
Flanagan hits home with a left uppercut.  Flanagan clinches his opponent.  Flanagan leans on his opponent using all his weight. Kanniainen is using his forearm in the clinch.  The ref calls break and the two fighters separate.  
Flanagan connects with a left hook.  As Kanniainen tries to work on the inside, the fighters heads come together!  The ref acknowledges the accidental headclash but allows the action to continue.  Flanagan has been damaged by the clash of heads.  That has caused slight swelling  around the right eye.  
Flanagan digs in a sharp left hook to his opponents liver.  As Kanniainen tries to work on the inside, the fighters heads come together!  The ref does not appear to have noticed the clash as Flanagan dabs at his face checking for damage.  
Flanagan lands a left hook to the body followed by a right hook to the head.  
Flanagan is looking to close the distance.  Flanagan lands a left uppercut followed by a right hook to his opponents body.  
Flanagan lands with a ramrod jab.  
Flanagan connects with a left uppercut.  
Flanagan gets on the inside and lands a double left hook to his opponents head.  
Flanagan lands two consecutive right uppercuts to his opponents head.
