Douglas Powell vs Engjell Gjikokaj

Boxing Daily Report from the Big Bang Promotions promoted show at Malmo Isstadion, Malmo,  taking place on 19/06/2025:

There are a few empty seats out here tonight, but this is a respectable turnout for the show.  
Next up we have one of the supporting contests of this show.  

Looking to impress the boxing fans in attendance and those watching live on Viasat Sport, the two fighters competing in this 4 round matchup are Douglas Powell (1 - 0) who hails from Dundee, UK and Engjell Gjikokaj(0 - 0) from Tirana, Albania.  Powell weighed in at 118 pounds, while Gjikokaj weighed in at 117 pounds and 5 ounces.  
The referee tonight is Joel Palm, and the three ringside judges are Nils Angerman, Per Carlberg and Kevin Angerman.  

Round 1: 

Powell is looking to close the distance and is on target with a firm right hook to his opponents ribcage.  Powell ties up his opponent.  Powell uses his free hand to throw a hook, but it hits Gjikokaj behind the head. Powell throws a right hook, but his opponent parries the shot and counters with a left hook.  
Powell steps inside and lands a left hook followed by a right hook to his opponents head.  
Powell connects with a right hook.  Powell holds on to his opponent.  As they grapple, Powell pushes his forearm into Gjikokaj's face.  The ref separates the two fighters.

Gjikokaj steps away from his opponent and tries to land an overhand left, but his opponent blocks the shot and counters with a left hook.  
Powell steps inside and lands a right uppercut to the body followed by a right hook to the head, AND KNOCKS GJIKOKAJ DOWN!  He manages to get up at 8.

Powell throws a right hook, but the shot is blocked.  Powell clinches his opponent.  Powell leans on his opponent trying to wear him down. The referee breaks the clinch and warns Powell to stop holding.
