Ian Heird vs Paul McConnel

Boxing Daily Report from the Gold Coast Promotions promoted show at Gold Coast Convention and Exhibition Centre, Gold Coast,  taking place on 19/07/2025:

There are a few empty seats out here tonight, but this is a respectable turnout for the show.  
Next up we have one of the supporting contests of this show.  On the line tonight is the Commonwealth Heavyweight title.  

Looking to impress the boxing fans in attendance, the two fighters competing in this 12 round matchup are Ian Heird (21(6) - 2 - 1) who hails from Wellington, New Zealand and Paul McConnel(17 - 2(1)) from Manchester, UK.  Heird weighed in at 241 pounds and 11 ounces, while McConnel weighed in at 249 pounds and 8 ounces.  
The referee tonight is Dan Nish, and the three ringside judges are Barry Forbes, Inigo Craigen and Ian Norris.
