Boxing Daily Report from the Gold Coast Promotions promoted show at Gold Gym, Brisbane,  taking place on 28/06/2025:

The venue is completely packed out with the fans turning out in force to watch the fights on offer tonight.  
Next up we have one of the supporting contests of this show.  

Looking to impress the boxing fans in attendance, the two fighters competing in this 4 round matchup are James Cowper (1 - 0) who hails from Brisbane, Australia and Michael Baker(4 - 3 - 6) from Sydney, Australia.  Both Cowper and Baker weighed in at 118 pounds.  
The referee tonight is Hugh Durie, and the three ringside judges are Mark Taggert, Ian Corrie and Ian Norris.  

Round 1: 

Cowper goes for the bodyshot, but lands south of the border!  The ref stops the action and gives Baker time to recover.  
Baker is on target with a cross.  
Cowper is looking to close the distance and lands a right uppercut to the head, a left hook to the body and a left hook to the head.  
Cowper advances into close range and lands a right hook followed by a left uppercut to his opponents head.  
Baker switches the action to the outside.  Cowper is on target with a cross to his opponents body.  
Cowper is looking to close the distance.  Cowper hits home with a right hook.  As Cowper tries to work on the inside, the fighters heads come together!  The ref does not appear to have noticed the clash as Baker dabs at his face checking for damage.  
Baker attempts to land a right uppercut, but Cowper sidesteps and counters with a cross.  
Cowper lands with a sharp jab.  
Cowper lands with a solid jab.  
Cowper advances into close range and lands a left uppercut.  
Cowper tries to land a jab, but Baker sidesteps and counters with a right hook to his opponents ribs.  
Cowper is looking to close the distance and drives a left uppercut into Baker's body.  
Baker quickly sidesteps from in front of his opponent.  Baker tries to land a cross, but his opponent blocks the shot and counters with a cross.  
At the end of Round 1, lets listen in on the corners...Baker's trainer is telling his fighter he needs to be more active or he's going to get outworked.  Baker's trainer is telling his fighter to tighten his defence.

Cowper gets on the inside and lands a left hook, right hook and a left hook to his opponents head.  
Cowper gets on the inside and forces Baker to back into the corner.  Cowper drives a right uppercut into Baker's body.  
Cowper is on target with a cross.  
Cowper gets on the inside and lands a left hook followed by a right uppercut to his opponents head.  
Cowper is looking to keep the action on the outside.  Baker waits at the mid-range with a lowered guard, waiting for his opponent to throw a punch.  Cowper lands a sharp jab.
