John Demetriou vs Peter Pirie

Boxing Daily Report from the AI Australia-Victoria promoted show at Dom Kennedy Gym, Melbourne,  taking place on 14/07/2025:

There are plenty of empty seats out here tonight, with the show nowhere near close to selling out.  
Next up is the main event of the show.  This is a semi final eliminator for the Australia-Victoria Super Lightweight title.  

Looking to impress the boxing fans in attendance, the two fighters competing in this 10 round matchup are John Demetriou (4 - 15 - 3) who hails from Melbourne, Australia and Peter Pirie(3 - 4 - 3) from Melbourne, Australia.  Both Demetriou and Pirie weighed in at 140 pounds.  
The referee tonight is Joey Mahtesyan, and the three ringside judges are Gethin Mitchell, Hugh Collins and Johnny Elias.  

Round 1: 

Demetriou finds the target with a jab.  
Pirie lands a cross.  
Pirie is on target with a cross.  
Demetriou hits home with a right hook.  
Pirie steps inside.  Demetriou pivots to the side of his opponent.  Pirie is on target with a right uppercut.  As Pirie tries to work on the inside, the fighters heads come together!  The ref does not appear to have noticed the clash as Demetriou dabs at his face checking for damage.  
Demetriou connects with a cross.  
Demetriou finds the target with a jab.  
Pirie walks his opponent into the corner.  Pirie attempts to land a left hook, but Demetriou blocks the shot and counters with a right uppercut to his opponents ribcage.  
Pirie lands a right hook.  
Demetriou pivots to the right of his opponent and hits home with a left hook.  As the two fighters work on the inside, their heads come together!  The ref does not appear to have noticed the clash as Pirie dabs at his face checking for damage.  Pirie has taken some damage from that accidental headbutt.  That has caused slight swelling  around the right eye.

Pirie advances into close range and forces Demetriou to retreat onto the ropes.  Pirie pivots to the left of his opponent and lands a left hook to the body followed by a right uppercut to the head.
