Alec Marrs vs Morgan Hinga

Boxing Daily Report from the Slick Rick Promotions promoted show at Brad Bridgeforth Gym, Auckland,  taking place on 05/08/2025:

The venue is completely packed out with the fans turning out in force to watch the fights on offer tonight.  
Next up we have one of the supporting contests of this show.  

Looking to impress the boxing fans in attendance, the two fighters competing in this 6 round matchup are Alec Is there life on Marrs (1 - 0) who hails from Auckland, New Zealand and Morgan Hinga(0 - 6 - 1) from Christchurch, New Zealand.  Both Marrs and Hinga weighed in at 200 pounds.  
The referee tonight is George Brain, and the three ringside judges are Joey Bridgeforth, Joey Bridgeforth and Corey Hopper.  

Round 1: 

Marrs is looking to close the distance.  Marrs pivots to the side of his opponent and hits home with a sharp left uppercut.

Marrs sidesteps to the left of his opponent.  Hinga tries to land a cross, but his opponent sidesteps and counters with a sharp left uppercut.

Marrs steps inside.  Marrs retreats back to the ropes, and waits for his opponent to attack.  Hinga tries to tag Marrs on the ropes, but his opponent blocks every shot!  
Hinga gets on the inside and throws a right uppercut, but Marrs clinches his opponent.  As they grapple, Marrs pushes his forearm into Hinga's face.  The ref breaks the clinch and signals for the action to continue.  
Marrs steps to the outside and lands a cross.  
Marrs steps inside and throws a left uppercut, but is unable to find the target.  Marrs clinches his opponent.  Marrs is using his forearm in the clinch.  The ref separates the two fighters.  
Hinga tries to land a right uppercut, but his opponent sidesteps and counters with a left hook.  
Marrs attempts to land a right hook, but Hinga slips the shot and counters with a cross.  
Marrs steps inside and lands a firm right hook.  
Marrs lands a straight 1 - 2.  
Hinga steps inside.  Marrs lands a left hook.  
Marrs lands a left hook to the body followed by two right uppercut's to the head.  Marrs holds on to his opponent.  Marrs leans on his opponent using all his weight. Marrs is using his forearm in the clinch.  The ref halts the action and breaks the clinch.  He lectures Marrs about fouling.  
At the end of Round 1, lets listen in on the corners...Hinga's trainer is telling his fighter he needs to be more active or he's going to get outworked.  Hinga's trainer is passing on some tactical advice.
