Paul Gemmel vs Phylip Ellis

Boxing Daily Report from the North Star Boxing promoted show at Dan Hilson Gym, Rockford,  taking place on 30/07/2025:

There are a few empty seats out here tonight, but this is a respectable turnout for the show.  
Next up we have one of the supporting contests of this show.  

Looking to impress the boxing fans in attendance, the two fighters competing in this 8 round matchup are Paul Gemmel (9 - 0) who hails from Olathe, USA and Phylip Ellis(2 - 9(1) - 2) from Omaha, USA.  Both Gemmel and Ellis weighed in at 200 pounds.  
The referee tonight is Barry Anderson, and the three ringside judges are Dave Maddox, John Oman and Inigo Gillies.  

Round 1: 

Gemmel hits home with a left hook.  
Gemmel gets on the inside and lands a left hook followed by a left uppercut to his opponents head.  
Ellis is looking to keep his distance.  Gemmel feints a right hook, and then connects with an overhand right.  
Gemmel lands a cross.  
Gemmel lands a jab.  
Gemmel steps inside and lands a left uppercut to the body followed by two left hook's to the head.  
Gemmel connects with a right hook.  
Gemmel cuts off the ring, trapping Ellis on the ropes.  Gemmel connects with a cross.  
Gemmel advances into close range and lands two right hooks followed by a left hook to his opponents head.  
Gemmel connects with a right hook.  
Gemmel lands a spiteful jab.  
Gemmel closes the distance.  Gemmel sidesteps to the left of his opponent and lands a right hook followed by a left uppercut to his opponents head.  He then lands a right hook to the body followed by a left hook to the head.  
Ellis pivots to the side of his opponent.  Gemmel lands a cross followed by  two jabs to his opponents head.  
At the end of Round 1, lets listen in on the corners...Ellis's trainer is suggesting ways of getting through to his opponent.  Ellis's trainer is telling his fighter to increase his workrate.  Ellis's trainer is passing on some tactical advice.  Ellis's trainer is advising how he could improve his defence.

Ellis walks his opponent into a corner.  Gemmel hits home with a left uppercut.  
Gemmel lands a solid jab.  
Ellis switches the action to the outside.  Gemmel snaps his opponents head back with a spiteful jab.  
Gemmel lands a left hook.  
Gemmel sidesteps to the left of his opponent and is on target with a jab to Ellis's body.  
Gemmel feints a left hook, but Ellis is not fooled and responds with a left uppercut.  
Gemmel closes the distance and lands a left uppercut, left hook and a right hook to his opponents head.  
Gemmel manages to force Ellis into the corner.  Gemmel lands a right uppercut to the body, a left hook to the head and a left uppercut to the head.

Gemmel gets on the inside and lands a left hook to the body followed by a right uppercut to the head.  He follows up the attack and lands three consecutive left hooks to his opponents head.
