Too many Potential Top 18yo Free Agents?

My Scout returned from Turkey and spotted 8 Futere Professionals of potentially 800 Overall,
atm this is a reach, where people can be title contenders, all those are still in their 6xx likely, but it seems with the newest Young Professional Generation, that too many good boxers are created, while hardly amateurs with that potential are spotted, each country seems to have multiple 800+ future professionals, can you look at that rate, and if this is intended or unwanted?

It's probably a consequence of generating more "starter level" fighters and having them as free agents. I guess the more regions a country has the more of these will be created.

I'll see if I can turn it down a bit.

has scouting been changed or something? whats this showing 800+ potential thing about. it would usually just say future or now.


also, a lot of these fighters being generated are not that good. maybe 1/20 will become continental level fighters and 1/50+ will be world level fighters.  just because someone has 800-850 rating it doesnt mean they are good.

You can search for overall 800+ and if it comes up as future it means he'll reach that stat in a few years.

These aren't actually new pro being generated actually, they are pre-generated "start up" fighters getting released if not used.

So there'll be a mix of decent and mediocre.

Some become free agents, and some just retire without turning pro

From my experience it does feel like there's a balance issue with the newgens vs amateur fighters. I've stopped signing amateurs now because they are just outclassed in all ways. Newgens are far cheaper, ability-wise they are better and even if they weren't you sign them far younger, by the time an amateur has turned pro they've usually missed the best years for stat growth. 

If you look at the p4p list only one of the top 30 has been an amateur and even they were poached into the pros in their teens. It's a shame because at the moment the amateur ranks is just giving us Audley Harrisons instead of AJs and Lomachenkos.

I have some potential ideas that could help: 
  • newgens(apart from starting fighters) could still have high ceilings but they generally start very raw in terms of skills, getting them to a decent level should be a long term project compared to someone with amateur pedigree
  • you could make scout assessments of future overall  very inaccurate for someone with low number fights(am and pro combined) or who has never fought above a certain class threshold. If you sign an 18 year old with no amateur background there should always be the possibility they'll turn out to be a cab driver, but the slim chance he'll become the next p4p great
  • fighters stat improvement in the amateur ranks could be more generous. If you're signing a 27 year old, 1000 class, 27 year old amateur they should already have skills competitive with the top pros and just need to build experience and stamina
  • If an amateur has been looking to turn pro for a year with no one signing them they  become a free agent, and this gives players the chance to pick them up on the cheap. (So if you identify an amateur you think has elite potential you have to decide whether you pay the premium and get him now or wait and risk someone else poaching him)
  • newgens with potential to reach 800 overall should be far rarer.
  • Instead of an amateur fighters class inflating their yearly signing fee maybe there should be a one-off 'signing on bonus' to be paid based on their class and the amount per year is flat and cheap. At the moment the best approach for a player is to sign an amateur for one year and once that year is up they'll still be at the journeyman stage and can be renewed for a couple of thousand whereas they could have been asking for 3-400k per year before they turned pro. 
They're probably all terrible ideas because I've not considered something but I figured I'd throw them out there

yeah even in the first game I remember the top amateurs being mostly glass-chinned and pillow-fisted. don't think I've come across a top fighter (800 ovr+) yet that had an amateur career in this game too.

Completely agree with buffing up amateur boxers stats, this should be where the best fighters come from

I'll have another look and see if the amateur generation needs tweaking.

I might switch off the release of "start up" fighters as regular free agents or at least turn down the frequency, and see if I can make better amateurs instead.
