Brett Moncayo vs Max Lai

Boxing Daily Report from the Smokin Joe promoted show at Memorial Coliseum, Los Angeles,  taking place on 18/12/2036:

The venue is completely packed out with the fans turning out in force to watch the fights on offer tonight.  
Next up we have one of the supporting contests of this show.  

Looking to impress the boxing fans in attendance, the two fighters competing in this 12 round matchup are Hitman Brett Moncayo (20(18) - 0) who hails from Reno, USA and Max Lai(27(4) - 12(4)) from Nairobi, Kenya.  Both Moncayo and Lai weighed in at 154 pounds.  
The referee tonight is Harry Millar, and the three ringside judges are Alastair Hankin, Charlie Valdivia and Sean Bowens.  

Round 1: 

Moncayo is looking to close the distance and tries to land a left uppercut, but his opponent sidesteps and counters with a solid cross.  
Moncayo drives a solid right uppercut into Lai's ribcage.  
Lai attempts to land a right hook, but Moncayo parries the shot and counters with a solid left hook.  
Moncayo lands two jabs followed by a cross to his opponents head.  
Moncayo walks Lai onto the ropes.  Lai attempts to land a right uppercut, but Moncayo sidesteps and counters with a sharp cross.  
Moncayo hits home with a right hook.  Moncayo holds on to his opponent.  Moncayo is using his forearm in the clinch.  The referee breaks the clinch and warns Moncayo to stop fouling.  
Lai lands a left hook followed by a left uppercut to his opponents head.  
Moncayo sidesteps to the right of his opponent and lands a left hook to the body followed by a right uppercut to the head.  
Moncayo finds the target with a jab.  
Moncayo steps inside.  Lai hits home with a sharp right uppercut.  Moncayo ties up his opponent.  Lai is leaning on his opponent in the clinch. The ref breaks the clinch and signals for the action to continue.  
Moncayo hits home with a solid left hook.  
Moncayo drives a firm right hook into his opponents body.  Moncayo holds on to his opponent.  As they grapple, Lai pushes his forearm into Moncayo's face.  The ref halts the action and breaks the clinch.  He lectures Lai about fouling.  
Moncayo attempts to land a right hook, but Lai blocks the shot and counters with a sharp right hook.  
Lai switches the action to the outside and is on target with a jab.  Lai tries to land a jab, but his opponent parries the shot and counters with a left hook.  
Moncayo feints a cross, but Lai does not fall for it and responds with a solid left uppercut.  
Lai steps away from his opponent.  Moncayo attempts to land a jab, but Lai blocks the shot and counters with a right uppercut.  
Moncayo is looking to close the distance and is on target with a sharp right hook.  
At the end of Round 1, lets listen in on the corners...Lai's trainer is advising how he could improve the accuracy of his work.  Lai's trainer is passing on some tactical advice.

Moncayo tries to land a left hook, but Lai sidesteps and counters with a right uppercut.  
Moncayo pivots to the side of his opponent.  Moncayo hits home with a cross.  Moncayo attempts to land a jab, but Lai slips the shot and counters with a stinging left uppercut.  
Moncayo sidesteps to the left of his opponent and lands with a spiteful jab.  
Moncayo closes the distance and is on target with a firm right hook.

Moncayo lands a right hook to the head followed by a left hook to the body, AND STUNS HIS OPPONENT!  Moncayo attempts to land a left hook, but Lai blocks the shot and counters with a left uppercut.  Lai almost instantly gets his legs back. 
Moncayo advances into close range and manouvers his opponent onto the ropes.  Moncayo is on target with a sharp left hook to his opponents body.  Moncayo throws a left uppercut, but his opponent blocks the shot and counters with a left hook to Moncayo's body.  
Moncayo lands a right uppercut to the head, a left hook to the body and a right hook to the body.  
Lai lands a firm cross.  
Moncayo gets on the inside and lands a left hook followed by a right hook to his opponents head, KNOCKING LAI DOWN!  He beats the count, getting up at 4.  
Moncayo thinks he can end the show early....he's looking to put Lai away.  Moncayo is on target with a VICIOUS left uppercut.  LAI IS DOWN!  He is back up on his feet at 5.  Lai now appears to have recovered from that earlier shot.

Lai lands a left uppercut to the body, a left hook to the head and a right hook to the head.  Moncayo clinches his opponent.  Lai leans on his opponent using all his weight. The ref breaks the clinch and signals for the action to continue.  
Moncayo lands a right hook to the head followed by a left hook to the body.  Moncayo holds on to his opponent.  Moncayo tries to make the space to throw a hook, but hits Lai behind the head. The ref breaks the clinch and signals for the action to continue.  
Moncayo lands a left hook.  
Lai digs in a right hook to Moncayo's ribcage.  
Lai steps to the outside and lands two consecutive straights to his opponents head.  
Moncayo lands a jab, overhand left and an overhand right to his opponents head, AND STUNS HIS OPPONENT!  
Moncayo senses a stoppage victory - he just needs the right shot.  Moncayo lands a right uppercut followed by  two left uppercuts to his opponents head, KNOCKING LAI DOWN!  He is back up on his feet at 4.

Moncayo lands a right uppercut followed by a right hook to his opponents head, AND SENDS LAI TO THE CANVAS!  He tries to rise but his legs dont respond...the count reaches 10!  The winner by KO is Moncayo!
