Mike Oni vs Pirkka Merikanto

Boxing Daily Report from the GBWH Promotions promoted show at Stadium of Light Conference Centre, Sunderland,  taking place on 27/12/2036:

The venue is completely packed out with the fans turning out in force to watch the fights on offer tonight.  
Next up we have one of the supporting contests of this show.  

Looking to impress the boxing fans in attendance, the two fighters competing in this 12 round matchup are Mike Lonely Oni (14(4) - 0 - 1) who hails from Wakefield, UK and Pirkka Merikanto(13 - 2(1) - 1) from Vantaa, Finland.  Both Oni and Merikanto weighed in at 147 pounds.  
The referee tonight is Chris Murphy, and the three ringside judges are Russell Gwilym, Arran Bogle and Neil Watts.  

Round 1: 

Oni is on target with a left uppercut to Merikanto's ribs.  
Oni advances into close range and lands a right uppercut followed by a left hook to his opponents body.  
Oni advances into close range and drives a sharp left hook into his opponents ribs.  
Merikanto steps away from his opponent.  Oni feints a cross, tricking Merikanto into launching a right hook counter.  Oni springs the trap, countering with  a left uppercut to Merikanto's body.

Oni lands a right hook followed by a left uppercut to his opponents body.  
Oni lands a left hook to the head followed by a left uppercut to the body.  
Oni lands a left hook to the body followed by a jab to the head.  
Merikanto is looking to keep his distance.  Oni feints a jab and triggers a right hook counter from Merikanto.  Oni springs the trap and counters with  a left hook.

Oni manouvers Merikanto into the corner.  Oni is on target with a right uppercut to Merikanto's ribcage.  
Oni lands a solid right hook.  Oni ties up his opponent.  Oni tries to make the space to throw a hook, but hits Merikanto's kidney. Oni is using his forearm in the clinch.  The ref breaks Oni's hold and signals for the fight to continue.  
Oni drives a solid left hook into Merikanto's body.  
Oni sidesteps to the left of his opponent and lands two right hooks to his opponents ribs.  
Oni lands a left hook to the body followed by a right hook to the head.  
At the end of Round 1, lets listen in on the corners...Merikanto's trainer is suggesting ways of getting through to his opponent.  Merikanto's trainer is telling his fighter he needs to be more active or he's going to get outworked.  Merikanto's trainer is passing on some tactical advice.

Oni steps inside and is on target with a right hook to his opponents ribs.  
Oni pivots to the left of his opponent and lands a double left hook to his opponents head.  
Oni is looking to close the distance and lands two left hooks to his opponents ribs.  
Merikanto is looking to keep the action on the outside.  Oni feints a cross, and then strikes his opponents body with a jab.  
Oni advances into close range and lands a left uppercut to the body followed by a right hook to the head.  Oni clinches his opponent.  As they grapple, Oni pushes his forearm into Merikanto's face.  The referee breaks the clinch and warns Oni to stop fouling.  
Oni steps inside and lands two left hooks to his opponents ribs.  Oni ties up his opponent.  Oni tries to make the space to throw a hook, but hits Merikanto's kidney. The ref breaks the clinch and signals for the action to continue.  
Oni digs in a firm left hook to his opponents liver.  
Merikanto lands a cross.  
Oni advances into close range and is on target with a left hook to his opponents body.  
Oni is on target with a stinging right hook to his opponents body.  
Merikanto steps away from his opponent and throws a jab, but his opponent slips the shot and counters with a left uppercut.  
Oni advances into close range and lands a double left hook to his opponents head.  Oni holds on to his opponent.  Oni throws a hook within the clinch but hits his opponent behind the head. The ref separates the two fighters.  
Oni digs in a right hook to Merikanto's ribcage.  
Oni lands two right hooks to the body, and one to the head, AND DROPS MERIKANTO!  He is back up on his feet at 6.

Oni hits home with a left uppercut.  
Oni lands a left hook to the body, and then to the head.  Oni clinches his opponent.  The ref breaks the clinch and signals for the action to continue.  
Oni feints a jab, and then is on target with a solid cross.  
Merikanto lands a cross.  
Oni crashes a spiteful left hook to his opponents ribs.  MERIKANTO HAS BEEN KNOCKED DOWN!  HE TRIES TO RISE ON SHAKY LEGS BUT MERIKANTO CAN'T BEAT THE COUNT!  The winner by KO is Oni!
