Robert Cherigat vs Kieran Mitei

Boxing Daily Report from the AI Kenya-Kisumu promoted show at Kisumu Loloupe, Kisumu,  taking place on 16/12/2036:

The venue is mostly sold out with the fans eager to turn out for tonights fights.  
Next up is the main event of the show.  This is a semi final eliminator for the Kenya Super Lightweight title.  

Looking to impress the boxing fans in attendance and those watching live on KTV, the two fighters competing in this 12 round matchup are Robert Cherigat (28(24) - 6(6)) who hails from Kikuyu, Kenya and Kieran Mitei(19 - 10(1) - 3) from Kisumu, Kenya.  Both Cherigat and Mitei weighed in at 140 pounds.  
The referee tonight is Kendis Rimbui, and the three ringside judges are Paul Babla, Mick Mutu and Kendis Rimbui.  

Round 1: 

Cherigat gets on the inside.  Cherigat sidesteps to the left of his opponent.  As the two fighters work on the inside, their heads come together!  The ref does not appear to have noticed the clash as Mitei dabs at his face checking for damage.  
Cherigat attempts to land a right hook, but Mitei slips the shot and counters with a left hook.  
Cherigat lands a left hook, left uppercut and a left hook to his opponents head.  
Cherigat lands two consecutive straights to his opponents head.  
Mitei hits home with a cross.  
Cherigat is looking to close the distance and throws a left hook, but is unable to get through his opponents guard.  Cherigat ties up his opponent.  Cherigat leans on his opponent using all his weight. The ref breaks Cherigat's hold and signals for the fight to continue.  
Cherigat is looking to close the distance and lands a double left hook to his opponents head.  
Cherigat lands a jab followed by  two straights to his opponents head.  
Mitei pivots to the side of his opponent and connects with a left hook.  
Cherigat lands a cross.  
Cherigat lands a cross followed by a left hook to his opponents head.  
Cherigat lands a stiff jab.  Cherigat attempts to land a jab, but Mitei blocks the shot and counters with a left hook.  
Cherigat closes the distance and lands two left hooks to the body, and one to the head.  Cherigat ties up his opponent.  Cherigat is leaning on his opponent in the clinch. The ref breaks Cherigat's hold and signals for the fight to continue.  
Cherigat lands a right hook to the body, a left uppercut to the head and a left hook to the body.  
Cherigat is on target with a sharp left hook to his opponents body.  
Cherigat lands a double left hook to his opponents head, AND HIS OPPONENT IS HURT!  Mitei recovers before his opponent can take advantage. 
Cherigat connects with a sharp right hook.  Cherigat ties up his opponent.  Cherigat leans on his opponent using all his weight. The ref separates the two fighters.  
Cherigat lands a left hook followed by a right hook to his opponents head.  
Cherigat is looking to close the distance and drives a right hook into Mitei's ribcage.  Cherigat holds on to his opponent.  Cherigat leans on his opponent trying to wear him down. The ref breaks Cherigat's hold and signals for the fight to continue.  
Cherigat steps inside and is on target with a left hook.  Cherigat clinches his opponent.  Cherigat tries to make the space to throw a hook, but hits Mitei behind the head. The referee warns Cherigat and breaks the clinch.  
Mitei throws a left hook, but Cherigat holds on to his opponent.  Cherigat leans on his opponent using all his weight. The ref calls break and the two fighters separate.  
Cherigat manages to force Mitei into a corner.  Cherigat lands a left uppercut to the body followed by a left hook to the head.  
Cherigat lands a right hook to the body, and then to the head.  He follows up the attack and lands a double right hook to his opponents head.  
Mitei throws a left uppercut, but Cherigat ties up his opponent.  Cherigat uses his free hand to throw a hook, but it hits Mitei behind the head. The referee breaks the clinch and warns Cherigat to stop fouling.  
Cherigat lands a right hook followed by a right uppercut to his opponents body.  
Cherigat slams a hurtful right hook into Mitei's ribs.  MITEI HAS BEEN KNOCKED DOWN!  He beats the count, getting up at 4.  
At the end of Round 1, lets listen in on the corners...Mitei's trainer is telling his fighter he needs to be more active or he's going to get outworked.  Mitei's trainer is advising how he could stop so many clean shots getting through.

Mitei forces Cherigat to retreat onto the ropes.  Cherigat lands a jab followed by a left hook to his opponents head.  
Cherigat lands a stinging cross.  
Cherigat steps inside and connects with a hurtful left hook.  MITEI HAS BEEN KNOCKED DOWN!  He is back up on his feet at 9.

Cherigat is looking to close the distance.  Cherigat senses Mitei is in trouble...he is looking to finish him off!  Cherigat lands a left hook to the body, and then to the head.  He continues the combination and lands a left hook followed by a right hook to his opponents head, AND KNOCKS MITEI DOWN!  He is on his feet as the count reaches 4. Cherigat is looking to put the pressure on now...he knows a few clean shots could mean an early night.  Cherigat crashes a mean left uppercut to Mitei's body.  MITEI HAS BEEN KNOCKED DOWN!  He beats the count, getting up at 8.  
Cherigat whips in a hurtful right hook to Mitei's body.  MITEI IS DOWN!  He manages to get up at 4.  Mitei now seems to have recovered from the bodyshot.  
Cherigat lands a left hook to the body followed by a right hook to the head.  
Cherigat lands a left hook followed by a right hook to his opponents head, AND HIS OPPONENT IS HURT!  
Cherigat senses a stoppage victory - he just needs the right shot.  Cherigat lands a left hook, right hook and a left uppercut to his opponents head, AND SENDS MITEI TO THE CANVAS!  The ref does not give Mitei the chance to beat the count...The fight has been stopped!  The winner by TKO is Cherigat!
