Ian Potts vs Paul Somerville

Boxing Daily Report from the Kiwi Promotions promoted show at Wellington Halladay, Wellington,  taking place on 30/01/2037:

The venue is completely packed out with the fans turning out in force to watch the fights on offer tonight.  
Next up is the main event of the show.  This is a semi final eliminator for the New Zealand-Wellington Heavyweight title.  

Looking to impress the boxing fans in attendance, the two fighters competing in this 10 round matchup are Ian Potts (21(12) - 5(5)) who hails from Wellington, New Zealand and Paul Somerville(8 - 10(2) - 3) from Wellington, New Zealand.  Potts weighed in at 227 pounds And 13 ounces, while Somerville weighed in at 241 pounds And 14 ounces.  
The referee tonight is Patrick Swanson, and the three ringside judges are Ollie Steel, Keka Paratene and Erorangi Muunu.  

Round 1: 

Potts is looking to keep his distance and lands with a hard jab.  
Potts feints a cross, and then is on target with a jab.  
Potts lands with a ramrod jab.  
Somerville gets on the inside.  Somerville pivots to the side of his opponent.  Potts drives a left hook into Somerville's body.

Potts lands a jab to the body followed by a overhand left to the head.  He follows up the attack and lands a double jab to his opponents head.

Somerville lands a right hook.  
Potts lands two consecutive straights to his opponents head.  He then lands a double jab to his opponents head.  
Potts tries to step out of his opponents range and lands an overhand right followed by a cross to his opponents head.

Potts is looking to keep the action on the outside and connects with a solid overhand right.

He then lands a left uppercut to the head, a right hook to the body and a left hook to the head, DROPPING SOMERVILLE TO THE CANVAS!  He is back up on his feet at 5.  It looks like Somerville has now recovered from that shot earlier.  
Somerville advances into close range.  Potts is on target with a solid left hook to Somerville's body.  Potts holds on to his opponent.  Potts pushes his forearm into Somerville's face.  The ref separates the two fighters.  
Potts is looking to keep his distance and finds the target with a jab.  
Somerville walks his opponent down, trapping him on the ropes.  Somerville pivots from in front of his opponent.  Potts lands a jab to the body, a cross to the head and a jab to the head.  
Somerville attempts to land a cross, but Potts blocks the shot and counters with a sharp left uppercut.  
At the end of Round 1, lets listen in on the corners...Somerville's trainer is telling his fighter he is being outworked and needs to throw more.

Somerville gets on the inside and cuts off the ring, trapping Potts on the ropes.  Potts is on target with a right hook.  
Somerville pivots to the right of his opponent.  Potts lands two straights followed by a jab to his opponents head.  HE HAS HIS OPPONENT IN TROUBLE!  Somerville recovers before his opponent can take advantage. 
Somerville gets on the inside.  Potts is on target with a left hook.  
Potts sidesteps to the left of his opponent and drives a stinging jab into his opponents face.  
Potts tries to keep the action at long range and lands a straight 1 - 2.  He then lands a jab to the body, a cross to the head and an overhand right to the head.  THAT HURT HIS OPPONENT!  Somerville quickly recovers. 
Potts lands an overhand right followed by a jab to his opponents head.  He then lands a jab to the body, and then to the head.  
Potts lands two consecutive straights to his opponents head.  
Potts feints a left hook, and then lands a cross followed by a jab to his opponents head, AND HIS OPPONENT IS HURT!  
Somerville could be stopped here, if Potts can find the right shot!  Potts lands a right uppercut followed by a right hook to his opponents head, KNOCKING SOMERVILLE DOWN!  He is back up on his feet at 9.  It looks like Somerville has now recovered from that shot earlier.  
Potts is looking to keep his distance and connects with a solid cross.  
Potts lands a jab to Somerville's body.  
Potts drops his guard, and stalks his opponent...he wants his opponent to throw a shot.  Somerville throws a jab, but his opponent sidesteps and counters with a sharp right hook.  
Potts lands a straight 1 - 2.  
Potts tries to keep the action at long range and lands two consecutive straights to his opponents head.  He then lands a straight 1 - 2.  HE HAS HIS OPPONENT IN TROUBLE!  Somerville almost instantly gets his legs back.

Potts finds the target with a spiteful jab.

Potts steps to the outside and lands a sharp jab.  
Potts lands a straight 1 - 2, AND DROPS SOMERVILLE!  He tries to rise on shaky legs but Somerville cant beat the count!  The winner by KO is Potts!
