John Gurganus vs Leggett Herard

Boxing Daily Report from the Smokin Joe promoted show at Rogers Center, Toronto,  taking place on 29/04/2037:

The venue is completely packed out with the fans turning out in force to watch the fights on offer tonight.  
Next up is the main event of the show.  This is a mandatory fight for the Canada Super Middleweight title.  

Looking to impress the boxing fans in attendance, the two fighters competing in this 12 round matchup are Long John Gurganus (40(32) - 2(1) - 1) who hails from Markham, Canada and Leggett Herard(24(1) - 2 - 3) from Montreal, Canada.  Gurganus weighed in at 168 pounds, while Herard weighed in at 167 pounds and 10 ounces.  
The referee tonight is Robert Dowe, and the three ringside judges are Matt Woodburn, Mark Mowat and Dax Feydeau.  

Round 1: 

Gurganus lands a jab to the head, an overhand left to the head and a jab to the body.  
Gurganus steps to the outside.  Herard is on target with an overhand left.  
Gurganus hits home with a stinging overhand right.  
Herard lands a right hook to the body, a left hook to the body and a right hook to the head.  
Herard forces Gurganus to back into the ropes.  Gurganus hits home with a left hook.  Gurganus holds on to his opponent.  Herard pushes his forearm into Gurganus's face.  The ref separates the two fighters.  
Gurganus tries to keep the action at long range and lands a double jab to his opponents head.  
Herard gets on the inside.  Gurganus connects with a left hook.  
Herard tries to land a jab, but his opponent sidesteps and counters with a right uppercut to his opponents ribs.  
Gurganus steps away from his opponent.  Gurganus feints a jab, and then is on target with a stinging cross.  Gurganus throws an overhand left, but his opponent slips the shot and counters with a cross.  
Gurganus lands a jab to the body, and then to the head.  
Herard is looking to close the distance.  Gurganus throws a right uppercut, but the shot is blocked.  Gurganus ties up his opponent.  Gurganus is using his forearm in the clinch.  The referee warns Gurganus and breaks the clinch.  
Gurganus is looking to keep the action on the outside and lands a jab.  
Gurganus switches the action to the outside and hits home with a sharp cross.  
Gurganus tries to step out of his opponents range and lands a straight 1 - 2.  
Herard gets on the inside and digs in a left hook to Gurganus's body.  
Herard forces Gurganus to back into the ropes.  Herard throws a left uppercut, but his opponent blocks the shot and counters with a sharp right hook to Herard's body.  
Gurganus is looking to keep the action on the outside and lands with a spiteful jab.  
At the end of Round 1, lets listen in on the corners...Herard's trainer is advising how he could be more accurate.

Gurganus steps away from his opponent and attempts to land a jab, but Herard slips the shot and counters with a left hook.  
Gurganus hits the target with a spiteful jab.  
Gurganus is looking to keep the action on the outside and lands a cross followed by a jab to his opponents head.  
Gurganus is looking to keep his distance and lands two consecutive overhand rights to his opponents head, AND STUNS HIS OPPONENT!  
Herard steps inside.  Herard could be stopped here, if Gurganus can find the right shot!  Gurganus connects with a FEARSOME cross.  HERARD IS DOWN!  He is on his feet as the count reaches 8.  
Gurganus switches the action to the outside.  Gurganus lands a right hook followed by  two straights to his opponents head.  He then lands two left uppercuts followed by a left hook to his opponents head.  The winner by KO is Gurganus!
