Cortez Mare vs Rob Leys

Boxing Daily Report from the North Star Boxing promoted show at UNF Arena, Jacksonville,  taking place on 07/03/2037:

The venue is completely packed out with the fans turning out in force to watch the fights on offer tonight.  
Next up we have one of the supporting contests of this show.  

Looking to impress the boxing fans in attendance, the two fighters competing in this 8 round matchup are Cortez Mare (11(8) - 0) who hails from Tijuana, Mexico and Rob Leys(5 - 1) from Charlotte, USA.  Mare weighed in at 139 pounds And 10 ounces, while Leys weighed in at 139 pounds And 9 ounces.  
The referee tonight is Rob Quigg, and the three ringside judges are Zachary Headden, Kenzie Calley and Malcolm Porteous.  

Round 1: 

Leys pivots to the left of his opponent.  Mare lands a right hook to the body, and then to the head.  
Mare advances into close range and lands two right hooks to his opponents ribs.  Mare clinches his opponent.  Mare is using his forearm in the clinch.  The referee separates the two fighters and warns Mare.  
Mare steps inside and drives a stinging left uppercut into his opponents ribs.  Mare clinches his opponent.  Mare leans on his opponent using all his weight. Mare tries to make the space to throw a hook, but hits Leys behind the head. The referee breaks the clinch and warns Mare to stop fouling.  
Mare lands a cross.  
Mare steps inside and is on target with a right hook to Leys's body.  
Mare whips in a big right hook to Leys's body.  IT LOOKS LIKE LEYS WAS HURT BY THAT SHOT!  
Mare cuts off the ring, trapping Leys in the red corner.  Mare connects with a right hook.  Leys now seems to have recovered from the bodyshot.  
Leys throws a left hook, but Mare ties up his opponent.  Mare tries to make the space to throw a hook, but hits Leys behind the head. The ref calls break and the two fighters separate.  
Mare lands a left hook, right uppercut and a left uppercut to his opponents body.

Mare drives a solid left hook into Leys's ribs.  
Mare steps inside and lands a left hook followed by  two right hooks to his opponents body.  HE HAS HIS OPPONENT IN TROUBLE!  Leys quickly recovers. 
Mare lands a right uppercut to the body, a right hook to the body and a left uppercut to the head.  
Mare steps inside and drives a stinging right uppercut into his opponents body.  
Mare is looking to close the distance and drives a right hook into his opponents body.  
Leys steps away from his opponent.  Mare sidesteps to the right of his opponent and is on target with a firm cross.  
Mare closes the distance and is on target with a sharp right hook to Leys's body.  
Mare closes the distance and hits home with a firm right uppercut.  Mare tries to land a right uppercut, but his opponent blocks the shot and counters with a cross.  
Mare steps inside and is on target with a sharp right uppercut.  
Mare whips in a hurtful right hook to his opponents body.  LEYS WAS STUNNED BY THAT SHOT!  Leys recovers before his opponent can take advantage. 
Mare digs in a left uppercut to Leys's body.  
Mare forces Leys to back into the ropes.  Mare lands a left hook, left uppercut and a left hook to his opponents body.  
Mare is on target with a stinging right hook to his opponents body.  As the two fighters work on the inside, their heads come together!  The ref acknowledges the accidental headclash but allows the action to continue.  Leys has been damaged by that accidental headbutt.  That has caused slight swelling  around the right eye.  
At the end of Round 1, lets listen in on the corners...Leys's trainer is advising how he could improve the accuracy of his work.  Leys's trainer is telling his fighter he needs to be more active or he's going to get outworked.  Leys's trainer is passing on some tactical advice.  Leys's trainer is telling his fighter to tighten his defence.

Mare lands two left hooks to his opponents ribs.  
Mare walks Leys onto the ropes.  Leys attempts to land an uppercut to the solar plexus, but he strays low!  The ref stops the action and gives Mare time to recover.  
Leys tries to land a jab, but Mare slips the shot and counters with a solid left uppercut.  
Leys steps away from his opponent and attempts to land an overhand left, but Mare sidesteps and counters with a left hook.  
Mare slams a nasty right hook into Leys's body.  IT LOOKS LIKE LEYS WAS HURT BY THAT SHOT!  Mare throws a cross, but his opponent blocks the shot and counters with a left hook.  Leys almost instantly recovers. 
Mare advances into close range and lands a left hook to the body, and then to the head.  THAT HURT HIS OPPONENT!  
Mare lands a right uppercut to the head, a left uppercut to the body and a left hook to the body.  Leys now seems to have recovered from the bodyshot.  
Mare gets on the inside and lands a right hook to the body, and then to the head.  
Leys throws a left hook, but Mare clinches his opponent.  Mare is leaning on his opponent in the clinch. The ref calls break and the two fighters separate.
