Juan Pedro vs George Merced

Boxing Daily Report from the iQ Boxing Global promoted show at KFC Yum! Center, Louisville,  taking place on 16/07/2037:

The venue is completely packed out with the fans turning out in force to watch the fights on offer tonight.  
Next up we have one of the supporting contests of this show.  

Looking to impress the boxing fans in attendance, the two fighters competing in this 6 round matchup are Juan Pedro (1 - 0) who hails from Tipitapa, Nicaragua and George Merced(14 - 11 - 3) from San Antonio, USA.  Both Pedro and Merced weighed in at 140 pounds.  
The referee tonight is Mark Malis, and the three ringside judges are Leon Prosser, Shaun Woodman and Dave Southerland.  

Round 1: 

Pedro advances into close range and is on target with a sharp left hook to Merced's liver.  Pedro ties up his opponent.  As they grapple, Pedro pushes his forearm into Merced's face.  The referee warns Pedro and breaks the clinch.  Pedro throws a right hook, but his opponent blocks the shot and counters with a left hook.  
Pedro throws a left uppercut, but the shot lands on his opponents guard.  Pedro clinches his opponent.  Pedro leans on his opponent using all his weight. The ref breaks Pedro's hold and signals for the fight to continue.  
Pedro lands a left hook followed by a right hook to his opponents head.  Pedro holds on to his opponent.  Pedro leans on his opponent using all his weight. The ref breaks Pedro's hold and signals for the fight to continue.  
Merced stalks forward with a low guard, trying to draw a lead from his opponent.  Pedro lands a right uppercut followed by a left uppercut to his opponents body.  
Pedro lands a right hook followed by a left hook to his opponents body.  
Pedro walks his opponent down, trapping him on the ropes.  Pedro wants to work on the inside, but accidentally clashes heads with his opponent!  The ref acknowledges the accidental headclash but allows the action to continue.  Merced has come off worse after that clash of heads.  That has caused minor damage to the nose.  
Pedro crashes a nasty left hook to his opponents body.  IT LOOKS LIKE MERCED WAS HURT BY THAT SHOT!  Pedro ties up his opponent.  Pedro leans on his opponent trying to wear him down. The ref separates the two fighters.  
Merced tries to step out of his opponents range.  Pedro is on target with a firm overhand right.  
Pedro gets on the inside.  Pedro knows Merced is hurt...he is putting the pressure on now, looking for the stoppage.  Pedro whips in a nasty left uppercut to Merced's ribs.  MERCED IS SENT SPRAWLING TO THE CANVAS!  He is on his feet as the count reaches 6.  It looks like Merced has now recovered from that earlier bodyshot.  
Merced is looking to keep the action on the outside.  Pedro hits home with a stiff jab.  
Pedro steps inside.  Merced throws a right uppercut, but Pedro clinches his opponent.  Pedro leans on his opponent trying to wear him down. The ref breaks the clinch and signals for the action to continue.  
Pedro walks Merced into the corner.  Pedro digs in a sharp left uppercut to his opponents body.  
Pedro is on target with a stinging right hook to his opponents ribs.  
Pedro lands a left hook followed by a left uppercut to his opponents body.  
Merced switches the action to the outside.  Pedro is on target with a jab.  
Pedro closes the distance and lands a left hook followed by a left uppercut to his opponents body.  
Pedro hits home with a left hook.  
Pedro steps inside.  Pedro lands three consecutive right hooks to his opponents ribs.  As Pedro tries to work on the inside, the fighters heads come together!  The ref does not appear to have noticed the clash as Merced dabs at his face checking for damage.  
Pedro lands a left hook to the body followed by a left uppercut to the head.  
Pedro steps inside and walks his opponent down, trapping him in a corner.  Pedro lands a left hook, right hook and a left hook to his opponents body, AND DROPS MERCED TO THE CANVAS!  He beats the count, getting up at 5.  
Pedro sees his opponent is hurt.  He's looking for the finish!  Pedro lands a right hook followed by a left hook to his opponents body.  He continues the combination and lands a left uppercut followed by a right uppercut to his opponents body, AND SENDS MERCED TO THE CANVAS!  He beats the count, getting up at 5.  Merced now seems to have recovered from the bodyshot.  
At the end of Round 1, lets listen in on the corners...Merced's trainer is advising how he could improve the accuracy of his work.  Merced's trainer is telling his fighter he is being outworked and needs to throw more.  Merced's trainer is telling his fighter to tighten his defence.
