Ryuu Koike vs Isamu Sugawara

Boxing Daily Report from the Gold Coast Promotions promoted show at Tokyo International Forum, Tokyo,  taking place on 14/12/2024:

The venue is completely packed out with the fans turning out in force to watch the fights on offer tonight.  
Next up we have one of the supporting contests of this show.  This is a mandatory fight for the Japan-Tokyo Middleweight title.  

Looking to impress the boxing fans in attendance and those watching live on TV Tokyo, the two fighters competing in this 10 round matchup are Ryuu Koike (6 - 2(1) - 4) who hails from Tokyo, Japan and Isamu Sugawara(3 - 1 - 2) from Machida, Japan.  Koike weighed in at 159 pounds and 15 ounces, while Sugawara weighed in at 160 pounds.  
The referee tonight is Dai Ishikawa, and the three ringside judges are Ryo Shiroma, Nori Tamanaha and Nori Saito.

Sugawara feints a jab, fooling Koike into launching a right hook counter.  Sugawara springs the trap, countering with  a right uppercut.

Sugawara throws a short cross to the body, but lands low!  The ref stops the action.  The ref sends Koike to the neutral corner.  He warns Sugawara that continued fouling will result in a point deduction.
